Mary Buxton
Solicitor [Head of Department-Partner-Didcot]

Mary came to Law as a second career, starting her legal studies when the youngest of her three children was 2 years old. She studied in Oxford and then commuted by bicycle and train to London for the Law Society finals course.

Her entire career has been with Hedges, where she has progressed from trainee Solicitor up to Partner. She is now head of the Property Department in the firm, and also takes responsibility for the Didcot Office.

Outside work Mary keeps fit through swimming regularly, long country walks and yoga. Her other main interests are music and theatre. She and her husband have visited many opera houses throughout Europe and make regular trips to Stratford. Mary has sung in a number of local choirs, particularly when they are offering programmes of renaissance or twentieth century music.

Mary’s children are both students and her husband works in the oil industry.

Elizabeth Moffitt
Solicitor [Partner-Wallingford Office]

Elizabeth qualified in 1996 and joined the Property Department at the Wallingford Office in 2002, having previously worked for law firms in London and Reading. She specialises in residential property but also has knowledge of commercial property.

In her spare time Elizabeth is an avid cook and big fan of Rick Stein. For relaxation, she can be found at home in her kitchen, entertaining family and friends, or in her garden growing vegetables. She also enjoys art, both contemporary and classical, country walks and is passionate about rugby and ski-ing.

She lives in Caversham with her husband, Jon.

Janis Macknamara
Legal Executive [Wallingford Office]

Janis joined Hedges in September 2006, having previously worked in the local government sector for thirty years as an associate legal executive. This experience has been highly useful in her ongoing work with the local authorities, town and the Parish Council.

Janis specialises in commercial property. This includes leasing of premises, encompassing office, shop and licensed premises, and also associated planning issues.

Born in Shropshire (‘God’s own county’), Janis moved to the Thames Valley twenty years ago after working in Birmingham and Dudley Metropolitan Districts.

She is a keen reader and a member of an active book club. Janis is single with two adult children.

Thomas Ash
Conveyancer [Didcot Office]

Thomas joined Hedges in 2006 and specialises exclusively in conveyancing matters. He is currently working and training towards full qualification as a Legal Executive.

Prior to this Thomas spent seven years with in a private law firm in Reading, working in matrimonial law together with conveyancing, wills and probate, and small claims litigation.

Still living in Reading, Thomas is a keen supporter of Reading Football Club and enjoys spending his spare time socialising with friends. He has a very keen interest in IT but balances his hours at a computer with a strict fitness regime.

Thomas is the youngest of a family of four, having two older brothers and one older sister.
